A potential terrorist attack has been prevented in Austria.

Police detained two individuals on allegations that they were sympathizers of the terrorist organization ISIS and were planning a terrorist attack on the concert of US singer Taylor Swift.

Franz Ruf, Director General for Public Security in Austria, stated at a press conference that a 19-year-old suspect with links to ISIS was detained earlier in the day in the Lower Austria region, about an hour away from the capital, Vienna.

Stating that "we have determined that the 19-year-old perpetrator was focusing on the Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna," Ruf said that chemical substances were seized at the suspect's home.

A second person, believed to be in contact with the suspect, was also detained in Vienna. According to initial investigation findings, both suspects were identified as being sympathizers of the terrorist organization online.

Police measures will be increased at the entrances to the concerts of Taylor Swift, who is scheduled to perform in Vienna tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday. Each concert is expected to be attended by approximately 65 thousand people.

On the other hand, in November 2020, an armed attack was carried out by an ISIS sympathizer in the center of Vienna, in which 4 people lost their lives and 23 people were injured.
