Timur Savcı, the producer of the TRT series Teşkilat, has spoken for the first time regarding the developments surrounding Aybüke Pusat that have dominated the agenda.
Producer Timur Savcı, BloombergHT broadcast on Aslı Şafak’la İşin Aslı appeared as a guest on the program and addressed the public perception regarding Aybüke Pusat, who left the series. Clarifying the rumors circulating on social media, Savcı "We did not make a statement saying we would never work with Aybüke Pusat again" he said, denying the allegations.
Pointing to the nature of the contracts TRT signs with producers, Savcı stated that they are still in contact with Aybüke Pusat. "We are still talking, she still comes to our office. But people are creating an extra victimhood narrative. There is no such situation." Savcı said, emphasizing that there are misconceptions regarding the process.
Stating that the decision for her departure from the series was made by TRT following the reactions to the actress's social media posts, Savcı noted that TRT took quick action on the matter. Regarding the issue, "This was TRT's economic decision, and TRT came out with a statement quickly. We found out about it through a last-minute link. In fact, Aybüke was also at the office, saying we need to manage this issue correctly." he said, describing the process.
Savcı expressed his discomfort with the incident being portrayed as if it were entirely related to the production team with the following words:
"Some wanted to turn it into something directly related to us, but when an actress on a boycotted channel says 'boycott this channel, don't watch it,' they naturally had difficulty understanding this. There is no such situation regarding us. We did not make a statement like 'We will never work with Aybüke Pusat again,' so people's perception is misplaced."
SILENCE IS THE BASIS OF TRT CONTRACTS
Timur Savcı drew attention to the sensitivity of contracts made with TRT, stating that these rules are well-known in the industry. "The entire market and journalists know this today. If you are working for TRT, it is a state channel, and they say, 'Please do not share anything regarding any positive or negative, red or white social or political issue'... And TRT contracts are special contracts; if you accept this in advance, you sign and work." he stated, emphasizing that agreements on this matter are clear.
AYBÜKE WAS OFFERED AN ALTERNATIVE
Providing details about Aybüke Pusat's situation, Savcı said that TRT gave the actress a chance to make a statement to rectify the situation, but that this opportunity was not utilized. "Aybüke said her intention was not political." the producer said, "TRT also offered Aybüke an option. They asked her to share a statement explaining that her intention was not what it seemed. However, Aybüke did not take advantage of that option." he said.
Savcı further emphasized that their relationship with the actress continues, stating, "There is no reason for us to have any issues with Aybüke... We are still in contact, and she still visits our office. But people are creating an extra sense of victimhood. No such situation exists," noting that there is no hostility between the parties.
"I AM NOT A PARTY TO THIS FIGHT"
Clearly stating that he does not want to be a party to the controversies, Timur Savcı expressed his discomfort with the polarization on social media as follows: "Social media is such a thing; some people try to create heroes and some try to create monsters there, but sooner or later the truth will be understood... I do not see myself as a part of these fights. There are 7-8 channels in Turkey, and I work for all 8 of them. There is no place I don't work with; I am not a side."
