The apartment where Matild Manukyan died is for sale

The apartment in Huzur Palas where Matild Manukyan, known as the 'brothel queen' and a former tax record-holder, lived for many years and passed away in February 2001 at the age of 89, has been put up for sale.

Matild Manukyan, who amassed an extraordinary fortune by investing the income from her brothels into real estate, owned an apartment consisting of four rooms and a living room. The asking price for the 170-square-meter net apartment, which overlooks Abide-i Hürriyet Avenue, is 12 million 775 thousand Turkish Lira.

According to information provided to the Dünya newspaper by an employee of the real estate firm brokering the sale, the interior of the apartment has been completely renovated.

On the third floor of Huzur Palas, there used to be a 'Matild Manukyan Museum'. It has been learned that the two apartments facing each other there were also recently sold to a construction company. Manukyan's only son, Kerope Çilingir, stated in a press conference following his mother's death that she had left no will, saying, "Before she died, she asked me to complete the museum to be built in the apartment building where she lived. I am her sole heir."

Matild Manukyan's sole heir was her son Kerope Çilingir. However, 36 members of the Bekiran tribe from Muş had applied to the court claiming to be Manukyan's heirs. The court rejected this case. Another lawsuit against Manukyan's heir, Kerope Çilingir, was filed by his daughter, Dora Çilingir. Dora Çilingir had filed a complaint against Neslihan Kahraman, the third wife Kerope Çilingir married, who was 40 years his junior. Her reasoning was the allegation that her father was married to Neslihan Kahraman using forged documents and reports. While the court case was ongoing, Kerope Çilingir passed away in August 2020 at the age of 80.

Shortly after Kerope Çilingir's death, the court issued a ruling for the annulment of the marriage, and consequently, Matild Manukyan's inheritance passed to her grandchildren, Dora and İlda Çilingir. Kerope Çilingir's two other children, named Linda and Mayk, had passed away before him.
