The apple of Van's eye: Akdamar adorned in the colors of spring

Akdamar Island, located in the Gevaş district of Van and one of the city's most significant tourist attractions, has turned shades of pink and white as the almond trees have blossomed.

With its snowy mountains and turquoise lake view, the island saw intense interest during the 9-day holiday break.

Captivating people with its unique scenery in every season, Akdamar Island is currently hosting visitors with the blue of Lake Van and the sky, complemented by the blooming almond trees.

The island, reached after a 20-minute boat ride from the Gevaş district, was flooded with local and foreign tourists, as well as city residents, during the holiday break.

Visitors arriving at the island, which takes on the colors of spring with flowers that begin to bloom in mid-April each year, captured the unique scenery with their mobile phones and cameras.

Kübranur Özer, who came to the city from Ankara with her friends, said they had really wanted to see Akdamar Island.

Stating that they were mesmerized by the scenery they encountered, Özer said, "We wanted to visit Akdamar Island while the trees are in bloom; it is a very beautiful place. We immortalized this beauty by taking photos. We invite everyone to come and see this atmosphere."

Cansu Özcan, who said she came from Isparta for the holiday, also remarked, "Almond blossoms bloom on Akdamar Island every year. We wanted to experience this beautiful atmosphere. It really looks very beautiful."
