Master musician İsmet Nedim, who left his mark on Yeşilçam films with his songs, has passed away in Berlin at the age of 93.

“Agora Meyhanesi”, “Arım, Balım, Peteğim”, “Benim de Canım Var”, “Kalpsiz, Boş Kalan Çerçeve”, and “Seven Ne Yapmaz” are among the many immortal works created by master artist İsmet Nedim, who has passed away in Berlin.
Magazine writer and singer Onur Akay announced the news of İsmet Nedim's death.
Onur Akay stated, "A great loss has been experienced in Turkish music. He created unforgettable works such as 'Agora Meyhanesi', 'Arım, Balım, Peteğim', 'Benim de Canım Var', 'Kalpsiz, Boş Kalan Çerçeve', and 'Seven Ne Yapmaz'. His songs were featured in legendary Yeşilçam films. İsmet Nedim, an important vocalist and successful composer of an era, passed away last night, Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 22:00 due to multiple organ failure. The 93-year-old artist was staying in a nursing home in Berlin due to Alzheimer's disease. He could only recognize one of his daughters and did not recognize his other daughter or his sibling. His funeral will be brought to Turkey on Friday."
WHO IS İSMET NEDİM?
A graduate of the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory, vocalist and composer İsmet Nedim was born in Samsun on January 1, 1931. He moved to Ankara and took private lessons for three years from great masters of Western music, Halil Bediî Yönetken, Muammer Sun, and Kemal İlerici.
Having learned music at the conservatory and Ankara Radio, Nedim gave his first concert in 1962 at the Ankara Büyük Sinema, accompanied by both Western instruments and traditional Turkish music instruments.
The artist's first concert was attended by the fourth President, Cemal Gürsel, and state officials. The famous composer's songs were interpreted by numerous artists such as Zeki Müren, Emel Sayın, Muazzez Abacı, and Bülent Ersoy, and were used in Yeşilçam films. The artist, who migrated to Berlin, Germany, in 1981, composed nearly 350 songs.
