A scene like a movie in Tokat: He read his own obituary and doubted he was alive

On February 23, 2023, a fire that broke out at a hotel on GOP Boulevard caused panic.
During the fire, 20-year-old Umut Muzaffer Gezen, who was in his hotel room and reportedly a soldier, jumped from the 3rd floor to escape the flames.
The young man, who was seriously injured in the incident, was rushed to the university hospital by medical teams called to the scene. Following the incident, some news websites reported that the young man had died. After receiving initial treatment at the hospital, Gezen regained consciousness.
Hospital staff showed Gezen the news reports about him while he was in good condition.
Kemal Sunal-like, Gezen read his own obituary and even doubted his own existence. Gezen, who suffered head injuries, a broken leg, and is awaiting surgery on his lower back, read the news about himself with a laugh.
'I JUMPED OUT THE WINDOW IN A PANIC'
Umut Muzaffer Gezen said, "I panicked during the fire in the hotel room in Tokat and jumped from the 3rd floor. News reports came out saying I died. I am alive. I am grateful. It couldn't be worse than this. I fell asleep after taking my medication. I didn't notice the fire because I was asleep. I woke up suddenly. I jumped out the window in a panic. If I hadn't jumped, maybe I wouldn't be here right now. I wouldn't be alive. I was a soldier; I came as a private. I came to the basic training unit. I went there to stay for one day and the fire broke out then too. My military service is on hold now. I am in the hospital myself. I will have surgery. I have a problem with my lower back. I will be fine after the surgery," and added:
"It was an experience for me. It was a scene like a movie for me. The Kemal Sunal scene came true. It says he really died. Like, I'm dead now, I don't exist. It was like that. I doubted myself."
'HE HAS A FRACTURE IN HIS SPINAL CORD'
His mother, Gözde Gezen, said, "I am so grateful that he survived. Thank God he is alive. There is a reason for everything. Maybe if he had reported to his military unit, something worse would have happened to him. Thank God he is alive and doing well. There is a problem with his spinal cord. He has a fracture in his spinal cord. Hopefully, we will walk out of here," she said.
