Türkan Şoray visits the home of Cengiz Aytmatov: 'It moved me deeply'
Master actress Türkan Şoray was presented with an 'Honorary Medal' by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY). During her visit to Kyrgyzstan, Şoray also visited the home of Cengiz Aytmatov, the author of 'The Girl with the Red Scarf' (Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım). Meeting Aytmatov's family, Şoray said, "My memories were refreshed. Seeing the poster of the film I starred in moved me deeply."

Having left half a century behind in her artistic career, Türkan Şoray was deemed worthy of an Honorary Medal for her contributions to the culture and art of the Turkic world within the framework of the 1st Bishkek International Film Festival held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
Türkan Şoray, the lead actress of the film adapted from the book 'The Girl with the Red Scarf' (Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım) by Kyrgyz author Cengiz Aytmatov and brought to the silver screen in 1978, visited the family's home after the award ceremony.
'MY MEMORIES WERE REFRESHED'
Expressing her feelings after the visit, Türkan Şoray said, "During my visit to Kyrgyzstan, I also visited the home of Cengiz Aytmatov, the author of 'The Girl with the Red Scarf'. The house has been turned into a museum. Cengiz Aytmatov had hosted me in this house during my previous visit. My memories were refreshed. I sat at the dining table and in his chair. I met his sister, his son, and his grandchildren. Seeing the poster of the film 'The Girl with the Red Scarf' in his house moved me deeply," she said.
Şoray shared the lead role with Kadir İnanır in the 1977 film 'The Girl with the Red Scarf'.
Cengiz Aytmatov, the author of 'The Girl with the Red Scarf', passed away in 2008.
