Turkish and Greek Peace Associations meet in Lesbos

The Turkish Aegean Peace Association and the Greek Lesbos Peace Association held a joint meeting on the island of Lesbos, Greece, on the evening of December 6, 2024. The meeting was attended by civil society representatives, local officials, and various figures from both countries.

The meeting was attended by civil society representatives, local officials, and various figures from both countries. On behalf of Siniparksi, the event was attended by association President Paris Vounatsis, Lesbos Mayor Panayotis Christofas, Lesbos regional protection director Lefteris Papaioannou, Governor's advisor Yiorgos Simos, former Mayor Stratis Pallis, Apostolos Kominikas, Alekos Evangelinos, former Syriza MP Yiorgos Pallis, environmentalist M. (?) Bakas, Hristina Hadjidaki, Yannis Pavlis, Stratis Pothas, Erifyli Hiotelli, Vasilis Tentomas, Mihalis Bakas, Maria Zervu, Sotiris Frangu, Kostas Karadjas, Stella Kalaidjoğlu, Sofia Kufopulu, Fatos Lazarı, Eleni Papadimitriu, Grigorios Morianos, and many other local representatives and senior members of the association. The Aegean Peace and Communication Association was represented by Association President and former MP Zeynep Altıok, board members Özcan Durmaz and Zeki Gül, former Çankaya Mayor Bülent Tanık, former Didim Mayor Mehmet Soyaslan, and former Bergama Mayors Mehmet Gönenç and Sefa Taşkın.

During the event, views were exchanged on developing friendly relations between Turkey and Greece and maintaining peace in the Aegean region. Performances by artists Cahit Berkay, Mazlum Çimen, Güvenç Dağüstün, and local musicians added color to the evening.

The meeting concluded with peaceful messages aimed at increasing friendship and cooperation in the Aegean.
