Turkish folk music artist Hilal Özdemir becomes a neighborhood headman

Turkish folk music artist Hilal Özdemir had previously announced that she was a candidate for headman of Suadiye Neighborhood.

Özdemir had stated, "Respected residents of Suadiye Neighborhood. You have known me for 30 years as an artist, as Hilal Özdemir. For many years, you hosted me in your homes through television channels. Now, I am a candidate for headman of our beautiful neighborhood as a visionary, true Republican woman."

Following the elections held yesterday, the artist announced on her Instagram account that she had been elected headman:

"Dear residents of Suadiye, I would like to thank everyone who supported me and my team with their votes in the 31.03.2024 local elections, enabling us to win. In the new term, we will continue to bring great services to our neighborhood together with you, with my love and respect. Your headman, Hilal Hülya Özdemir."
