Verdict announced in Fatma Girik's 'will' case
In the lawsuit filed by her brother to annul Fatma Girik's will, the court ruled that the late actress's will is legally valid. Following the decision, lawyers Sabit Emekdar and Eylem Pektaş, representing Ahu Turanlı and Müyesser Girik, issued a written statement.

Fatma Girik, one of the unforgettable names of Yeşilçam, passed away on January 24, 2022, at the hospital where she was receiving treatment, and was laid to rest in the Bodrum district of Muğla, next to her life partner Memduh Ün, in accordance with her will.
In the will she prepared in 2018, Fatma Girik had divided her inheritance equally between her niece Fatma Ahu Turanlı and her sister Müyesser Girik.
Furthermore, in her will, she had allocated specific financial shares to a total of 5 people, including her brother Günay Girik's two children, Ahu Aşkar, for whom she was a foster parent, and her household staff. However, the artist's brother, Günay Girik, filed a lawsuit for the "annulment of the will," claiming that his sister was not of sound mind at the time the will was prepared.
Forensic Medicine: "Full legal capacity"
As part of the legal process, the file was sent to the Istanbul Council of Forensic Medicine to determine Fatma Girik's mental state at the time she drafted the will. The report prepared as a result of the examination by the institution stated: "It has been deemed appropriate to accept that Fatma Girik possessed full legal capacity on October 26, 2018, the date of the will," noting that the decision was reached unanimously.
Court rejects the case
The verdict was delivered at the 12th hearing held on February 11 at the Bodrum 6th Civil Court of First Instance. The court rejected Günay Girik's lawsuit and ruled that Fatma Girik's will is legally valid.
Following the decision, lawyers Sabit Emekdar and Eylem Pektaş, representing Ahu Turanlı and Müyesser Girik, issued a written statement. The statement included the following: "This matter is not an inheritance dispute, but a matter of respect for a person's will. The court's decision is a legal confirmation of the free will of the late Fatma Girik. The claim that 'she was not of sound mind,' which Günay Girik put forward for financial gain, is an attempt to tarnish her cherished memory, and it has been registered that these claims are baseless."
The lawyers emphasized that the "inheritance crisis" reports in the media do not reflect the truth, that the process consists solely of respect for Fatma Girik's will, and stated that they reserve their legal rights against those who commit character assassination with baseless allegations.
