Richard Lewis’s death following a heart attack at his home in Los Angeles was confirmed by his publicist Jeff Abraham.
In a statement, Abraham said, "His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for all the love, friendship, and support and asks for privacy at this time."
Last April, Richard Lewis announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and that he would stop performing stand-up to focus solely on acting and writing.
