Ali Atay's remarks divide social media: 'Why am I struggling with this country's floods, fires, and disasters, man?'

Famous actor Ali Atay, who is etched in memory for his role as Mecnun in the series Leyla ile Mecnun, was a guest on Fatih Altaylı's program.

Atay's statements during the program became a hot topic on social media.

Atay reacted to famous figures being targeted over recent events.

Stating that there are units responsible for dealing with disasters in the country, Atay said, "Why am I struggling with this country's floods, fires, and disasters, man? There are units for this work. My wife was heavily pregnant, we were preparing the car, we were going to go to Maraş to help, and my wife was on the phone asking, 'Can we arrange a crane?' I said, 'Wait a minute, my wife is giving birth.'"

"WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?"

Atay continued his words as follows:

"What was I doing in Maraş while my wife was giving birth? Okay, an earthquake happened, we are experiencing this pain, that's why we were there, but why are we doing this, why? It's 4 AM, it's incomprehensible. We are making a mistake here; why did we fall for this manipulation? Why are we rushing around?"

Atay's words divided social media. While some users supported Atay, others criticized him for interpreting solidarity as manipulation.
