Narin Güran scene in Arka Sokaklar sparks controversy

The murder of Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found 19 days after she was reported missing in Diyarbakır, has plunged Turkey into mourning.

While 12 people remain in custody as part of the investigation, the killer of 8-year-old Narin has yet to be found.

The murder of Narin Güran was featured in the latest episode of Kanal D's long-running series Arka Sokaklar.

Every scene in the episode, which depicted the death of Narin—who was revealed to have been placed in a sack and thrown into a stream after being murdered—became a trending topic on social media.

THEY BROUGHT THE NARİN GÜRAN MURDER TO THE SCREEN

The murder of Narin Güran was depicted in the new episode of the series Arka Sokaklar, which aired on Friday evening, October 18, 2024.

In the series, which covered the murder of 8-year-old Narin, the name Narin was replaced with Yasin, and the uncle arrested as part of the investigation into the incident was portrayed as the character Servet.

The series also individually addressed Narin's disappearance, the statements given by the arrested family members, and the testimonies and behaviors of the mother and uncle.

The Arka Sokaklar team, which brought the Narin Güran murder that devastated Turkey to the screen, carried out a special shoot for this episode. 

It was reported that the episode was filmed in a village outside of Istanbul. The search and rescue scenes featured 6 rescue vehicles, including 3 gendarmerie vehicles, a 30-person JAK (Gendarmerie Search and Rescue) team, an underwater search and rescue team, trained search and rescue dogs, and various construction equipment.

The 'Narin' scenes in the series divided social media. While some expressed that they found such initiatives appropriate to keep the murder on the agenda and ensure it is not forgotten, others reacted to such pain being turned into ratings material.
