Murat Tabanlıoğlu is one of Turkey's leading architects and has put his signature on many significant projects. The 64-year-old famous architect founded the Tabanlıoğlu architecture office in 1990 with his father, Dr. Hayati Tabanlıoğlu. He has managed to make a name for himself through the projects he has realized in the field of architecture and the awards he has won.


WHO IS MURAT TABANLIOĞLU?

 

Murat Tabanlıoğlu was born in Istanbul in 1960. His father is the architect Hayati Tabanlıoğlu. He graduated from Istanbul High School in 1978. In 1984, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University. Between 1986 and 1990, he worked in the offices of Prof. Anton Schweighofer and architect Stanzel in Vienna.

In 1990, he founded the Tabanlıoğlu Architecture company with his father. He has put his signature on many prestigious projects both domestically and internationally. In his work, he has received numerous awards, including the TMMOB Building Branch Achievement Award and two major awards he received at the Cityscape Architectural Review competitions in Dubai. He speaks English and German fluently.

Murat Tabanlıoğlu, who teaches architectural studio courses at various universities, primarily Bilgi University, has been giving various lectures both domestically and internationally since 1991.

Tabanlıoğlu, who has served as a jury member in international competitions such as AIA and WAF, became a master jury member for the Aga Khan Awards in 2013. He also served as the curator of the Turkey Pavilion, which took part for the first time at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale. He was married to Melkan Gürsel, the granddaughter of the 4th President Cemal Gürsel, until 2015.

The famous architect, who divorced his wife Melkan Gürsel in 2015, had a long-term relationship with Nina Öğer. Following the end of this 9-year relationship, the famous architect shared a photo taken while dancing with his new partner and assistant, Tuba İnan, on his social media account with the caption "Dancing with my baby."
