WHO IS ÜMİT DENİZER?

Ümit Denizer was born in Ankara in 1948. Due to his father's profession as an officer, he completed his primary and secondary education in different provinces of Turkey. Later, he moved to Istanbul and graduated from the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the Yıldız State Academy of Engineering and Architecture.

He began his career in the performing arts with the encouragement of Muhsin Ertuğrul and Haldun Taner, who were important figures in Turkish theater. In 1973, he became a significant figure in the field of theater by founding the Anadolu Children's Plays Branch (AÇOK), which is considered Turkey's first independent children's and youth theater.

Working in the fields of playwriting and theater directing, Denizer's works include plays such as 'Mutluluklar Ülkesi' (Land of Happiness), 'Leke' (Stain), 'Çizgi / Benek' (Line / Spot), 'Renk' (Color), 'Mor Gezegen' (Purple Planet), 'Keloğlan', 'Avrupa’ya Avrupa’ya' (To Europe, To Europe), 'Aksak Timur ile Hoca Nasreddin' (Lame Timur and Hodja Nasreddin), and 'Uçan Şemsiye' (The Flying Umbrella).
