Yellow code warning for 11 provinces from Meteorology! Heavy rain is coming

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning for heavy downpours and hail across Turkey for Thursday, May 29. While the rains, which are effective in many provinces, especially Istanbul, are negatively affecting daily life, a yellow code warning has been issued for 11 provinces. Air temperatures are expected to drop in the interior and southern regions.

The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has published its weather report for Thursday, May 29. According to the report, many regions across Turkey are coming under the influence of heavy downpours. 

According to MGM's assessments, locally heavy downpours and thunderstorms are expected in the south of Marmara, the Aegean, the Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, the west and east of the Black Sea, and the west of Eastern Anatolia. It was reported that the precipitation will increase starting from the afternoon hours.

HAIL ALARM IN ISTANBUL

The downpour that began in Istanbul around noon continues to be effective on the Anatolian Side in Üsküdar, Ümraniye, and Sancaktepe. Due to the heavy rain, roads on Alemdağ Street in Ümraniye turned into lakes. In Sancaktepe, the effective hail gave way to heavy rain.

The precipitation is expected to continue with increasing intensity.

TEMPERATURES WILL DROP

Air temperatures are expected to decrease by a few degrees in the interior and southern regions, while they are expected to remain around seasonal norms in other parts. The wind is expected to blow strongly from time to time in the northern and eastern parts.
