Enomoto, who studied at METU in 2015 as part of a 6-month exchange program, decided to stay longer due to his love for Turkey during that time. He then moved to Istanbul for his master's degree and settled in the country.

RESIDENCE PERMIT DENIED

Yoshi, who has been living in Turkey since 2018, announced that his application for a residence permit had been rejected.

Stating that receiving a rejection when he was only 1 year away from applying for permanent residency rendered his 7 years of effort futile, Yoshi Enomoto also expressed that he would try different ways to remain in Turkey.

'I MIGHT TRY ANOTHER WAY'

Expressing his sadness in a post on his social media account, Yoshi said:

"I have to leave Turkey, where I have lived for 7 years and which I see as my country. Love is like that; even if you love, it doesn't work if you aren't loved back. I thank everyone who gave me material and moral support. I am very sad, I am crying, but I am still in love. Long live Turkey.

If I get a residence permit for 8 consecutive years, I can apply for permanent residency. Getting that was my big dream. Now, with this result, my 7 years have gone to waste. Even if I get a new permit, it will start from 0 again. Or I might try to stay here through another path; after all, I am in love."
