1 child arrested in investigation into death of 15-year-old Halil, killed by shotgun
In Burdur, one of three children detained in connection with the death of 15-year-old Halil Can Çavaş, who was shot with a shotgun, has been arrested by the court. The arrested child stated in his testimony, "It was an accident."

According to the information obtained, the incident occurred at a house on Vişne Street in the Karasenir neighborhood of central Burdur. Upon reports of a shooting, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene.
The medical teams arriving at the house found 15-year-old Halil Can Çavaş shot in the abdominal area. After initial intervention at the scene, the medical teams transported Çavaş to Burdur State Hospital by ambulance. Despite all interventions, the young boy could not be saved and lost his life.
Three children who were in the house during the incident were taken into custody. After completing their procedures at the police station, the children were referred to the courthouse. Following their statements to the prosecutor, two of the children were released, while one was arrested and sent to prison.
"I THOUGHT THE SHOTGUN WAS UNLOADED"
It was learned that the arrested child said in his statement, "We found the shotgun while looking for okey sets in the house. I was sitting with the shotgun in my hand, and Halil was standing in front of me. I thought the shotgun was unloaded. It went off suddenly while I was playing with it, and Halil was hit. I didn't understand how it happened."
The funeral of Halil Can Çavaş, who lost his life in the incident, was laid to rest at Sultandere Cemetery following an autopsy. Burdur Mayor Ali Orkun Ercengiz also attended the funeral and offered his condolences to the child's family.
