According to the information obtained, a report was made to the Urla Municipality Veterinary Services stating that 10 dogs, including pets, had been poisoned to death by an unidentified person or persons in the Gülbahçe neighborhood of Urla district during the night.

Teams dispatched to the address removed the dogs, which were confirmed to have been poisoned, from the area, and kept watch until the early hours of the morning against the possibility that other dogs on the street might also have been poisoned.

"WE FOUND THEM SHIVERING WITH FOAM IN THEIR MOUTHS"

Elif Sarı, a 23-year-old resident of the Gülbahçe neighborhood who expressed her reaction by stating that she was saddened by the poisoning of the dogs, said, “We are people who love, feed, and care for these animals. However, we have seen that there are those who do not love them as much as those who do. According to the veterinarian, the animals were poisoned with ‘agricultural pesticide or rat poison.’

We realized our dog named Gece had been poisoned because foam was coming out of its mouth. We found 8-10 of our dogs, including those that were owned and microchipped, shivering with foam in their mouths. Because the poison was very strong and there was no antidote, we lost them all,” she said.

Meanwhile, it was learned that the necessary investigations and inquiries into the incident have been initiated by the Urla District Police Department's HAYDİ (Animal Status Monitoring) officers and the Urla District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
