103-year-old unexploded artillery shell found in Haymana

A 103-year-old unexploded artillery shell, believed to date back to the Battle of the Sakarya, has been found in the Haymana district of Ankara.

According to the information received, a citizen named Ercan Aktaş found an artillery shell on the ground while walking in the Bahçecik neighborhood of Haymana.

Upon this, Aktaş reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Following the report, teams from the Haymana District Gendarmerie Command arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area around the unexploded shell, and took security measures.

A bomb disposal expert from the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command arrived at the scene, moved the unexploded artillery shell to a safe area, and destroyed it.

The artillery shell, which is believed to date back to the Battle of the Sakarya period, is estimated to be 103 years old.
