104-year-old unexploded hand grenade found in onion field
A 104-year-old unexploded hand grenade was found in an onion field in the Polatlı district of Ankara.

According to the information obtained, a farmer named Muhammed Kara, who was working in an onion field in the Polatlı district, discovered a piece of ordnance.
Upon the report of Kara, who immediately notified the authorities, gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams, which took security measures in the area, destroyed the hand grenade in a controlled manner.
It is estimated that the hand grenade dates back to the Battle of Sakarya, which took place in 1921.
The incident once again demonstrated that the region still bears the traces of its historical heritage.
Authorities emphasized the need to be cautious against similar findings in the region and requested that citizens immediately report the situation to security forces if they encounter suspicious objects.
