25,756 TL fine for village head candidate's convoy with illegal flashing lights

After a convoy of vehicles with illegal flashing lights belonging to a village head candidate in Pendik was shared on social media, the Istanbul Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate teams launched an investigation and issued a total of 25,756 TL in fines to the drivers for various traffic violations.

Footage of a convoy used for election campaigning by a village head candidate, featuring vehicles equipped with illegal flashing light systems in the Velibaba neighborhood of Istanbul's Pendik district, was shared on social media.

Following this, the Civil Traffic teams of the Istanbul Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate reviewed the footage and identified the driver of the vehicle with license plate 34 BOZ 852, F.T., and the driver of the vehicle with license plate 34 CHN 588, S.T.

Upon checking the vehicles, it was determined that they did not have the required authorization for the use of such equipment. A total administrative traffic fine of 25,756 TL was imposed: drivers F.T. and S.T. were each fined 6,439 TL under Article 26/2 of the Highway Traffic Law (KTK) (unauthorized use of flashing light/siren systems), and the vehicle owners were also fined 6,439 TL each under the same article.
