56 students hospitalized for suspected food poisoning discharged

Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education Murat Mücahit Yentür announced that all 56 students hospitalized in Şile due to suspected food poisoning have been discharged.

In a post on his social media account, Yentür stated, "All of our students who were hospitalized following the food poisoning incident that occurred after the distribution of food packages in front of Şile 75th Year Middle School this morning have, thankfully, been discharged.

We would like to thank our healthcare workers and administrators who supported the process. Get well soon."he said.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the morning, food packages containing sandwiches, cakes, and milk were distributed to students from a mobile vehicle belonging to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) that arrived in front of the 75th Year Middle School; shortly after, students began to report symptoms of nausea and vomiting.

Upon notification, 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the school, and 56 students were treated at Şile State Hospital.

While all distributed food packages were collected, an investigation into the incident was launched.

The Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate had previously announced that 54 of the children had completed their treatment and were discharged, while the remaining 2 children, whose general condition was good, were continuing to receive follow-up care and treatment.
