AKOM issues heavy rain warning for Istanbul: Precipitation to spread across the province by Sunday evening
AKOM has reported that a cool and rainy weather system arriving from the Balkans will bring heavy rain, strong winds, and a drop in temperatures to Istanbul.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has issued a heavy rain warning for Istanbul and the Marmara Region. According to the assessment, the region will come under the influence of a cool and rainy weather wave arriving from the Balkans.
In its statement dated September 25, AKOM indicated that precipitation will be seen as local showers on September 26, and is expected to intensify and spread across the entire province starting from 18:00 on Sunday.
PRECIPITATION AND WIND TO INTENSIFY
According to forecasts, the rainy weather will continue intermittently throughout the week. It is assessed that the showers may be effective as heavy downpours in some areas.
The wind is also expected to strengthen from northern directions. According to AKOM, the northeasterly wind (poyraz) will increase in speed starting from the afternoon of September 26, potentially reaching 30 to 60 kilometers per hour.
A significant drop in air temperatures is anticipated alongside the expected strong northeasterly winds. Temperatures in Istanbul, which have been hovering between 22 and 24 degrees, are expected to fall to the 15 to 18-degree range, dropping below seasonal norms.
