AKOM issues warning: Temperatures to drop in Istanbul, downpours expected Wednesday and Thursday

Istanbul will come under the influence of cool and rainy weather starting from the middle of the week. According to AKOM data, a cool air wave arriving from the Balkans will pull temperatures in the city below seasonal norms.

Forecasts indicate that the sky will be partly to very cloudy throughout the week. Air temperatures are generally expected to hover between 22 and 24 degrees, while the wind is expected to blow from the northwest (Karayel) and northeast (Poyraz) directions at speeds of 10 to 30 kilometers per hour. Humidity levels are projected to range between 45 and 80 percent.

No precipitation is expected in the city on Tuesday. The lowest temperature is estimated to be 17 degrees, and the highest is expected to be 24 degrees. Wednesday will be very cloudy with intermittent rain; 2 to 5 kilograms of precipitation per square meter is expected.

The heaviest rainfall of the week is forecast for Thursday. According to AKOM's assessment, 10 to 20 kilograms of precipitation per square meter could fall on that day, which is expected to be very cloudy with downpours. Temperatures on Thursday are projected to be between 17 and 22 degrees.

Following rain showers on Friday morning, the weather is expected to turn partly cloudy. As the rainy system loses its effect, temperatures are expected to rise again over the weekend, with the highest temperature potentially reaching 27 degrees on Sunday.
