Animal massacre in Bodrum

According to the information obtained, 2 of the dogs living near the New Hospital Road in the Konacık neighborhood, which were cared for by citizens working in local businesses, were found motionless on the road.

A report was filed for the dogs, which were seen with foam coming from their mouths. Following the report, officials from the Bodrum Municipality Veterinary Affairs and Cleaning Affairs Directorates, along with police teams, arrived at the scene.

One of the dead dogs was buried by the Cleaning Affairs Directorate teams, while the other was taken by the Veterinary Affairs Directorate for a necropsy to determine the cause of death.

It was learned that a privately owned dog in the area was also affected by the poison and was taken to a veterinary clinic. After the police teams completed their investigation, municipal teams emptied and washed the containers.

Fatoş Ateş, one of the citizens who took care of the dogs, stated that they do not yet know how the dogs were poisoned and demanded that those responsible be found.

ANOTHER REPORT OF POISONING

Another report of poisoning came from the Konacık Industrial Site and the Gazderesi region. It was stated that 1 dog and 2 cats, which were cared for by citizens at the Konacık Industrial Site, died as a result of eating poisoned food. A dog named "Kömür" in Gazderesi, which had foam coming from its mouth, could not be saved. Local shopkeepers, reacting to the fact that a total of 4 more animals were poisoned and died, began reviewing security cameras to identify those responsible.

Lawyer Arzu Ayyıldız, President of the Muğla Bar Association's Natural Life Protection and Animal Rights Commission, said, "The police and shopkeepers are conducting a camera search to find those responsible. We have filed a report regarding these incidents. These animals that died have been living there for years and have no harm to anyone. We do not understand who would do such a thing and why."
