PreviousIn previous years, there was barely room to move due to the crowds, but Ortaköy square did not see the expected activity this year. The calm in the area was striking.
Enes Karden, who has been a shopkeeper in Ortaköy for 7 years, noted that reports of a family visiting from Germany to Turkey being poisoned by baked potatoes were the reason for stating that citizensare not coming as they used to, said, "I have been here for 7 years. For the first time, Iam seeing such calmness. It is quieter than last year. Under normal conditions,we had preparedourselves, but unfortunately, it is not as we expected."
