The incident occurred around 22:00 off the coast of Tarabya in Sarıyer. According to reports, a boat carrying 4 people and 1 dog sank for reasons yet to be determined.

Following the sinking of the boat, the 4 people and their dog attempted to reach the shoreline by swimming. Citizens sitting on the beach heard the cries for help from 3 people in the water and notified the police, coast guard, and medical teams.

At that moment, a boat captain who noticed the situation due to the warnings of the citizens took the 3 people and the dog, who were trying to reach the shore by swimming, onto his boat and brought them to the beach. Medical teams intervened on-site as a precaution for the 3 people and the dog brought to land. It was learned that the 3 individuals, whose names were not disclosed, and the dog are in good condition.

ONE PERSON MISSING

While 3 people and 1 dog were rescued unharmed from the boat that sank off the coast of Tarabya, 1 person, who was allegedly unable to swim, went missing in the sea. While the coast guard teams continue their search in the water, it was learned that the sunken boat has also disappeared from sight.

Captain Akın Bektaş, who took the 3 people and 1 dog onto his boat, stated:

“We were going to Kireçburnu and back. We left Tarabya Marina. Friends there shouted from the shore; at first, we couldn't understand what was happening, so we stopped the engine. A sound started coming from deep out at sea. We saw the friends, searched for about 10 minutes, found them, took them onto the boat, and brought them to the marina. We called the police. We found 3 people, but they said there were 4. One had already gone missing when the boat sank, that's what they said. The boat sank near the governor's residence. One of them was quite exhausted, and two others were not in very good condition either. They said they had been in the water for 40 minutes. All three were men, and they had a dog with them.”

Search efforts by the coast guard and police teams for the missing person are ongoing.
