Car driver arrested in IETT bus accident that killed 2 in Zeytinburnu

The driver of the car, R.S.F., has been arrested in connection with an accident in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, where an IETT bus crashed into a residential complex's garden wall, leaving 2 people dead and 19 injured.
The accident occurred around 17:00 on Kennedy Street in the Kazlıçeşme neighborhood. According to allegations, the driver of the car with license plate 34 DCP 189, R.S.F., who was traveling in the left lane, attempted to enter the road exit on the right. Upon noticing the IETT bus with license plate 34 HO 2588 traveling in the middle lane, the driver aborted the maneuver and returned to his lane.
It is stated that the IETT driver, A.G., lost control of the bus while steering toward the right lane to avoid hitting the car. The bus came to a stop after crashing into the garden wall of a residential complex by the roadside. Upon notification, fire, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
Medical teams confirmed that Solmaz Karadoğan and one other person had lost their lives. The bus driver, A.G., who was seriously injured in the accident, along with 18 passengers, were taken to the hospital. Due to the accident, lanes on the side road of Kennedy Street were closed to traffic for a period.
As part of the investigation, teams reviewing MOBESE footage detained R.S.F., who was alleged to have cut in front of the bus with his car and distracted the driver. After being processed at the police station and referred to the courthouse, R.S.F. was arrested by the court on charges of "causing death and injury by negligence" following the preparation of a fault report.
Alcohol tests conducted on both the car driver, R.S.F., and the IETT driver, A.G., determined that neither driver was under the influence of alcohol.
