The trial of Hasan Dim, who is accused of murdering his wife, Elif Dim, in the Süleymanpaşa district of Tekirdağ on August 24, 2024, was held at the Tekirdağ 4th High Criminal Court on charges of 'premeditated murder of a spouse.'

The individual on trial for allegedly beating his wife to death with an iron defended himself by saying, "Everyone has lost something, but I have lost the other half with whom I shared 18 years of my life."

The family of the deceased, Elif Dim, the lawyers for both parties, and a lawyer from the Ministry of Family and Social Services attended the hearing. Hasan Dim was brought into the courtroom under gendarmerie escort.

"I LOST MY OTHER HALF"

In his defense, the defendant Hasan Dim stated that he did not accept the accusations, saying, "I do not accept the crimes I am accused of. I did not premeditatedly murder my wife. I am very regretful about this incident; yes, everyone has lost something, but I have lost the other half with whom I shared 18 years of my life. I did not kill my wife with an iron. The bottom of the iron was already broken; I know this, and everyone living in that house knows it.

I picked the iron up from the floor and put it on the nightstand. I am not a murderer, and my eldest son is not a traitor for not filing a complaint against me. I believe I am being tried fairly throughout the trial process. The decision is up to the court," he said.

The lawyers for Elif Dim's family requested that the defendant be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment without any sentence reductions. Hasan Dim's lawyer requested additional time to prepare a defense.

The court panel decided to continue the defendant's detention and adjourned the hearing to Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
