Couriers honk their horns for 'Ata Emre'
In Balıkesir, motorcycle couriers honked their horns in memory of Ata Emre Akman (20), a university student who worked as a courier for a chain restaurant and was stabbed to death after delivering an order.

Ata Emre Akman, a university student working as a courier for a chain restaurant in Balıkesir, was killed by E.Ö., who blocked his path. Motorcycle couriers operating in Balıkesir held a protest regarding Akman's murder.
Gathering at the Şadırvan location in the Hacıilbey neighborhood of Balıkesir, the motorcycle couriers took a short tour through the streets of Balıkesir. Speaking on behalf of the group, Fatih Uçarcı said: “We gathered here this evening for our brother Ata Emre Akman. The painful news we received last night wounded us deeply.
We do not belong to any political party or any specific brand. We wanted to do something here for the sake of unity and solidarity. We wanted to show the difficulties of being a courier.
I hope we have been able to make our voices heard to some extent. Things can sometimes seem easy from the outside. But in reality, when you get into the work, yes, we are able to bring bread to our homes, but we work under very difficult conditions and are not valued. They do not think of us and they look down on us. I hope this serves as a lesson for us all and that better days will be auspicious for our country. May God help us,” he said.
The couriers, who toured the city's streets honking their horns, then dispersed peacefully.
