Court ruling in 'yellow serum' tragedy: Doctor acquitted

In the case of a man who fell ill after being administered a 'yellow serum' at a private clinic in Afyonkarahisar and later died at the hospital he was transferred to, the defendant doctor has been acquitted.

The incident occurred in January 2025. Mehmet Gündoğan (38), who fell ill while preparing for Umrah, was administered a 'yellow serum' at a private clinic where he had sought treatment for a throat infection.

Gündoğan, who fell into a critical condition, passed away at the hospital to which he was transferred.

Following the incident, a lawsuit was filed at the 7th Criminal Court of First Instance upon the complaint of Gündoğan's family.

A verdict was reached in the final hearing of the case.

During the hearing, the Public Prosecutor submitted an opinion in line with the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) report, requesting the acquittal of the defendant, Dr. S.E., from the charged offense.

Concluding the trial based on the available evidence and testimonies, the court decided to acquit the defendant, Dr. S.E.
