Cracked tiles send building residents into the street
In the Melikgazi district of Kayseri, tiles in the hallway of a 54-year-old building cracked and popped out, causing panic. Following the incident, residents rushed into the street, but teams found no negative issues during their inspections.

According to the information obtained, the incident occurred on Şebboy Street in the Aydınlıkevler neighborhood, where residents, panicked by the sound of tiles cracking in the apartment hallway, thought an earthquake was happening and rushed outside.
Upon notification, police, medical, AFAD, and Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization teams were dispatched to the scene.
Arif Cankı, a business owner operating under the building, said, "I am a tradesman in the building where the incident took place. First, I heard a cracking sound. When I looked outside, I saw the citizens living in the building coming out. Later, the teams arrived.
They said the tiles on the first floor had cracked. Then, AFAD and Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization teams conducted an inspection. After the noise, as citizens rushed out, other residents in the building also thought there was an earthquake. The teams said they could only perform a superficial inspection for now. They stated that a detailed inspection could be conducted upon the application of more than 50 percent of the building residents. In the preliminary inspection, they said the building is safe to live in and there is no problem," he said.
While no issues were found during the teams' preliminary inspections, an investigation into the incident has been launched.
