Decision regarding the driver who hit and ran over a young girl
In Kocaeli, a driver who hit a 17-year-old girl with his car and then ran over her, and who was initially released under judicial control, has been re-detained and arrested. The incident occurred on August 10 on Aydınlar Street in the Sırasöğütler neighborhood of the Darıca district. According to the information obtained, the car with license plate 34 CUF 958, driven by S.D., hit 17-year-old Aslı Kara as she was returning home from work. It is alleged that after the accident, the driver stopped the vehicle, then drove over the young girl on the ground and fled the scene. Seriously injured, Aslı Kara was taken to the hospital after the initial intervention by medical teams. It was learned that Kara, who was later transferred to Kocaeli City Hospital, is still in intensive care and remains in critical condition.
Driver who fled was released under judicial control, then arrested
The driver, S.D., who fled the scene after the accident, turned himself in to the police station the next morning. After his procedures at the police station, he was referred to the courthouse and was released by the court under judicial control. Following objections, S.D. was re-detained today and was arrested by the court and sent to prison.

Aslı Kara's older sister, Aysel Kara, claimed that the driver was intoxicated and stated that the incident should not be treated as a simple traffic accident. Aysel Kara said, "My sister was coming home from work on Monday night. The car driver first hits a child and throws them, then takes my sister under the vehicle. The child immediately stands up and hits the car, trying to get my sister out from under it. However, instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver moves again and runs over my sister a second time. We might have called the first impact an accident. But the driver running over my sister a second time is attempted murder for us. We do not think this was an accident. Her injuries became even more severe because she was run over a second time. She is currently in intensive care and fighting for her life. We have witnesses who say the driver was intoxicated. The driver turned himself in a day after the incident. We believe this was done to wait for the effects of the alcohol to wear off. All I want is justice. I want the driver to be punished in the harshest way possible."
