Disaster statement from the Trabzon Governor's Office

The statement, which noted that flooding and landslides occurred in the districts of Sürmene, Araklı, and Arsin, where 165 kg of rainfall per square meter was recorded, stated, "320 reports have been received by the 112 Emergency Call Center and the district AFAD centers established in the district governorates regarding the flooding and landslides. 

As of this evening, 664 personnel (AFAD, DSI, Highways, Metropolitan and district municipalities, Turkish Red Crescent, Coast Guard, Gendarmerie, Police, Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Defterdarlık, Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Transport, Meteorology, NGOs), 190 construction machines (DSI, Highways, Municipalities), 281 vehicles, and 5 boats are intervening in search and rescue operations, closed roads, and stream debris removal efforts. 

A total of 12 neighborhoods in our Araklı, Arsin, and Sürmene districts have been affected by landslides, floods, and inundations, and survey work has been completed in 3 neighborhoods. Work will continue in the other neighborhoods. Damage assessment studies have begun, and work has been completed for 93 workplaces, 7 residences, and 3 vehicles in our Araklı and Sürmene districts. 120 decares of agricultural land have been damaged in 4 neighborhoods of our Sürmene district, and clear data on agricultural product losses has not yet been reached; damage assessment studies are ongoing," the statement read.

"NO CLOSED NEIGHBORHOOD ROADS REMAIN"

The statement, which noted that the Turkish Red Crescent has distributed a total of 600 hot soups, 170 food packages, 3,950 beverages, 1,490 waters, and 1,550 refreshments with 3 catering vehicles, said, "There are no neighborhood roads closed to transportation in the region, and efforts to open closed roads to some houses within the neighborhoods are continuing. There are no neighborhoods without water, electricity, or communication; work to resolve local water, electricity, and communication failures is ongoing.

We would like to thank the Governor's Offices, municipalities, and affiliated institutions of our neighboring provinces Erzurum, Bayburt, Gümüşhane, Artvin, Rize, Giresun, and Ordu, which have provided vehicle, machine, and personnel support since the first moments of the floods, landslides, and inundations."
