Excess tea harvested, ÇAYKUR lowers quota

The General Directorate of Tea Enterprises (ÇAYKUR) had previously implemented a quota of 50 kilograms per decare on July 10, stating that capacity had been exceeded due to intensive tea harvesting by producers.

Following intensive tea harvesting by producers over the past 3 days, ÇAYKUR announced that a quota of 30 kilograms per decare will be applied. In a written statement issued by ÇAYKUR, it was stated: “Our fresh tea purchases have been conducted freely for 18 days.

All of our producers have begun intensive tea harvesting to utilize the 3-day holiday period. As of today, 12 thousand tons of fresh tea have been purchased, and there is an amount of fresh tea equivalent to our 1-day capacity currently at our purchasing stations. In order not to compromise on quality, purchases will continue at 30 kilograms per decare for a short period of time.”

In the statement made by ÇAYKUR, it was also emphasized that producers should not rush, noting: “We would like our producers to know that they should not rush, that the best place for tea to wait is in the garden, and that we stand by our producers under any circumstances.

Furthermore, we remind our producers not to pay attention to any statements other than official corporate announcements, and that accurate information should be obtained from our factories or our general directorate.”
