The fact that the Syrian owner of a jewelry store on Darmstad Street in the Orhangazi district of Bursa did not open his shop for 3 days raised suspicions.
Syrians who had gold in the shop reported the situation to the police after they were unable to reach the jeweler.
Upon receiving the report, teams arriving at the scene directed the Syrians, who claimed to be victims, to the Bazaar Police Station to file a complaint. The Fraud Bureau of the Public Security Branch also launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
It was noted that the Syrian victims occasionally went in front of the closed jewelry store, checking the workplace with a glimmer of hope.
The Syrian victims alleged that the jeweler came at night, put the gold and foreign currency into bags, and fled Bursa.
