Factory fire in Afyonkarahisar continues for 5 hours

A fire that broke out at a factory producing forest products in Afyonkarahisar has been ongoing for approximately 5 hours, with the flames and smoke rising from the facility visible from kilometers away, highlighting the scale of the disaster.

A major fire has broken out at a factory in the Afyonkarahisar Organized Industrial Zone.

While firefighting teams continue their intervention at the scene, extensive security measures have been taken in the surrounding area. Access to and from the region is being managed in a controlled manner.

The fire, which started when plastic and wood products in the factory suddenly ignited, sent flames and smoke meters into the air. Teams began responding to the blaze with 26 fire trucks, 4 water tenders, and 4 riot control vehicles (TOMA) belonging to the Provincial Security Directorate.

Drone footage captured from the air revealed the extent of the disaster.

FLAMES COVERED THE SKY

The fire, which started around 19:40 in the evening at the factory producing forest products in the Organized Industrial Zone, is still ongoing in its 5th hour. Teams are working intensely to extinguish the fire, with nearly 60 fire vehicles and 150 personnel responding.

In the fire, where 1 person has been injured so far, teams are intervening at the factory from all sides to bring the flames under control.

The flames rising from the factory were visible from kilometers away in many parts of the city.

The flames and smoke rising into the sky were recorded by many citizens on their mobile phones, despite being far from the fire zone. While the intervention by the teams to extinguish the fire continues, it has been learned that the fire may continue until late into the night.
