The incident took place in Ankara's Yenimahalle district. According to allegations, Yakup Koca (55) called his wife, Semiha Koca, who was in the process of divorcing him, to the apartment complex's gazebo to talk. Semiha Koca (43) went down to the gazebo with their 5-year-old daughter, H.K.

Yakup Koca and Semiha Koca began to argue for a reason yet to be determined. As the argument escalated, Yakup Koca fired the gun he had with him at his wife, Semiha Koca, and their daughter, H.K., before attempting suicide by shooting himself in the head.

Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The 112 Emergency Service teams that arrived at the scene determined that the mother and her 5-year-old daughter had lost their lives, while Yakup Koca was transported to the hospital. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

"I HEARD A CHILD'S VOICE AFTER THE SOUND OF GUNSHOTS"

One of the eyewitnesses to the incident, Fatma Erciyes, spoke as follows:

"At first, I thought it was the sound of toy guns. It wasn't very loud. At that moment, a woman ran straight ahead. I learned later that the man who committed the murder was her sister-in-law. I wanted to record the moment of the incident. I was afraid he might shoot at me too. The incident happened in the gazebo. First, after 1-2 gunshots, I heard a child's voice saying, 'Stop, Dad, don't.' Finally, as the lady was running towards here, another gunshot was heard. I think the gentleman shot himself last.

When we came and looked later, they were all lying on the ground. I think the lady moved in with her mother about a month ago. The woman wanted a divorce, but the families wanted them to reconcile.

The sister-in-law had already come so they could meet and talk, but the woman absolutely did not want to meet. That's what the neighbors say; I don't have much of a relationship with them. He said, 'Let me see the child one last time,' and she brought her down. That's how the incident happened. He came with a gun.

His sister-in-law knew he had come with a gun, but despite that, she wanted to reconcile them. He shot his wife first. Then he shot his child and himself. I heard that the woman had passed away, and the child was also lying lifeless. The child was on the ground, and the woman was lying in the gazebo. It was a child of 5 or 6 years old. It was a marriage that was about to end. It's another femicide, as always, with the mentality of 'either you are mine or you belong to the grave'."
