Fire disaster in Konak, İzmir: 4 buildings and 2 semi-trucks reduced to ashes

A fire that broke out on a vacant lot in Konak, İzmir, spread to the neighborhood due to the wind, reducing the roofs of 4 buildings and 2 semi-trucks to ashes. While there were no casualties in the fire, which was brought under control through the intensive efforts of the fire department, the material damage was significant. An investigation into the fire has been launched.

The fire occurred around 17:30 in the Umurbey neighborhood of the Konak district. A fire broke out for an unknown reason on the land where the historic Electricity Factory is located. The flames grew rapidly and, fueled by the wind, spread to nearby buildings and vehicles.

Upon notification by local residents who saw the smoke, numerous fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The roofs of 4 buildings were engulfed in flames, and 2 semi-trucks were burned and rendered unusable. While the fire was brought under control by the intervention of the fire crews, cooling efforts are ongoing.

It was learned that there were no deaths or injuries in the incident, while the fire caused extensive material damage. Meanwhile, an investigation into the fire has been launched.
