A fire that broke out during roof renovations on a 4-story building in Gaziosmanpaşa, Istanbul, grew rapidly and spread to two adjacent apartment buildings. Following the fire, which was brought under control by firefighting teams, the body of one person was found during cooling operations.
The fire occurred at approximately 13:15 on 26th Street in the Şemsipaşa neighborhood. According to information obtained, flames erupted for an as-yet-undetermined reason during roof repairs on the 4-story building. The fire grew quickly and spread to two adjacent apartment buildings.
Upon notification by those in the vicinity, fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. While some of those inside the buildings managed to exit on their own during the fire, one person who was trapped inside due to a chronic illness was rescued by firefighting teams.
The flames were extinguished as a result of the intervention by firefighting teams. The teams' response to the fire was also captured from the air. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
Musa Şahin, a neighborhood resident who witnessed the fire, said, "We heard about the fire and were saddened. I hope there are no injuries. The fact that the smell of the fire reached a distance of one and a half to two kilometers saddened us. May God help them."
Hakan Çebi, who lives in the neighborhood, stated, "They say it started from roof repairs. We saw the flames and there was quite a panic. The fire department arrived on time. There are no injuries," he said.
After the fire was extinguished, teams conducting cooling operations discovered the body of one person in the building. The body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for identification and autopsy procedures.
