Fire fanned by wind spreads to villa garden, damaging million-lira boat
A fire that broke out in a grassy area in the Serik district of Antalya grew due to the wind and spread to the garden of a villa located along the Acısu Creek. The fire caused damage to a boat worth approximately 3 million lira, as well as to a pier and numerous trees in the garden.

The fire broke out for an as-yet-undetermined reason around 15:00 in the Acısu Creek area of the Çakallık neighborhood in Serik district. The fire, which started in a grassy area, reached the garden of a villa on the opposite bank of the creek in a short time due to the wind. Upon notification, teams from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, fire trucks from the Forestry Management Directorate, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The fire was fought with 4 fire trucks and 2 water tenders. As a result of the intensive efforts of the teams, which lasted about 1 hour, the flames were brought under control and extinguished before they could spread to the villa and surrounding greenhouses. During the fire, a boat tied to the pier by the creek, belonging to villa owner Süreyya Kaya, burned completely and became unusable. Tables and seating groups on the pier, as well as olive and various fruit trees in the villa's garden, were also damaged by the flames.
While police teams have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, initial claims suggest that the fire started due to sparks flying from welding work being carried out during the dismantling of greenhouses on the opposite side of the creek. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Stating that she suffered great financial loss in the fire, villa owner Süreyya Kaya expressed her distress with these words: "How much more damage could I have? My boat burned, my belongings on the pier burned. My garden burned, my trees burned. How much more could it be? I have millions in losses. The boat alone is 2.5-3 million lira."

Ali Kaya stated that the burned area belonged to his aunt-in-law and said, "She called me and said, 'They are doing welding work in the greenhouses across the way.' The flames from the welding jumped over here quickly due to the wind. There is a gazebo here. It has a reed roof. It caught fire suddenly like gasoline and was cut off. The boat burned, the olive grove burned. I think they should pray that it was saved this way. If it had jumped toward the Çakallık neighborhood side, it could have been quite problematic."
