Fire in scrubland in Bodrum
A fire that broke out in a scrubland area between the Ortakent and Bitez neighborhoods of Bodrum has been brought under control following intensive efforts by response teams.

The fire started near Üniversite Street during the night hours. The flames, which broke out for an as-yet-undetermined reason, spread toward the hill due to the effect of the wind.
Following a report made to the 112 Emergency Call Center, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Bodrum fire department teams and Regional Directorate of Forestry tanker trucks were dispatched to the region.
While the flames rising from the fire were visible from many points on the Bodrum Peninsula, teams carried out intensive work in the area.
BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL
The fire that broke out in a grassy and scrubland area in the Bodrum district of Muğla has been brought under control with the intensive intervention of the teams.
The fire, which broke out on Ortakent Üniversite Street during the night, spread to a wide area due to the effect of the wind. While police and municipal police teams ensured road safety during the fire, 112 Emergency Health and UMKE teams also intervened to assist those affected by smoke. The flames, which were also approaching residential complexes in the Bitez region, were brought under control with the intensive intervention of the teams. Cooling efforts have been initiated in the fire zone.
Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci made the following statement regarding the fire:
"The forest fire that started in the scrubland in Ortakent climbed toward our Bitez Neighborhood as the wind increased in intensity, and it threatened residential areas in some places there. Together, all our teams were in the field, at their posts, and performing their duties with great determination and great devotion so that not one more square centimeter of our forest would burn. Currently, cooling efforts are continuing at the initial point where the fire broke out in Ortakent. Thank God, we have completely brought the fire under control. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all our teams, our law enforcement officers, our security teams, our General Directorate of Forestry, our forest workers, and our fire department who have put in the effort from the moment the fire broke out until now."
