The fire, which began in Sakarya and has been ongoing for two days, reached Bilecik in the evening hours. Due to the rapidly spreading fire in Bilecik, where seventy percent of the land consists of forests, 16 villages have been evacuated.
Bilecik Mayor Melek Mızrak Subaşı made statements regarding the fire during a live broadcast.
Stating "We need aerial vehicles," Subaşı used the following expressions:
"The fire is advancing very rapidly; 3 villages have completely burned. Köprücek village has been reduced to ashes. Seventy percent of Bilecik is a forested region, and those areas are burning.
There are large farms where livestock is raised, and it is a great consolation that we have no loss of life!
Our citizens are making efforts to extinguish the fire; our need for aerial vehicles is increasing, and the fire is growing steadily...
The fire is approaching the center of Bilecik!"
