Ankara Metropolitan Municipality is launching a free transfer application starting July 1st, aiming to reduce traffic congestion in the city and make public transport services more accessible. This application will cover bus-metro ring lines in regions such as Keçiören, Altındağ, Pursaklar, Akyurt, Çubuk, Kalecik, Sincan, Etimesgut, and Eryaman.
The new ring lines will enter service in three phases. In the first phase, various lines will begin regular ring services to Dışkapı and Bilkent Metro Stations on July 1st. Additionally, transfer opportunities will be provided at the Ministry of Agriculture (Tarım Bakanlığı) Metro Station.
'FIRST TRANSFERS ARE FREE'
With the decision taken by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council, citizens between the ages of 62 and 64 will be able to benefit from EGO buses, the metro, and Ankaray free of charge during certain hours. EGO General Manager Adem Yılgın stated that Ankara has received heavy migration recently, which has led to increased traffic congestion. Yılgın said, "First transfers on our EGO buses will be free. The application will start on 12 routes on July 1st and will be completed on 44 routes in the coming period," he said.
Citizens will be able to learn about departure times and route information via the EGO CEP'te mobile application and the Urban Transportation Information System at "www.ego.gov.tr".
