The Ministry stated, "The individual named A.E.S., who killed his wife S.S., who was in the process of divorce, by secretly entering her residence in the Beşikdüzü district of Trabzon on Thursday, July 31, 2025, and wounded a neighborhood watchman who intervened in the incident, has been captured in Sinop."

After killing his wife Sinem Somun, Ali Eren Somun fled the scene rapidly. A local neighborhood watchman intervened to stop the suspect's escape, but the suspect managed to flee after wounding the watchman in the leg.
