Growing interest in 'Salah's rock': Municipality installs bench at photo spot

A social media post by Egyptian footballer Mohamed Salah, wearing a Trabzonspor jersey, has increased interest in the Kurtdere Plateau in Trabzon. After Salah shared photos of himself sitting on a rock in the plateau, the area became one of the spots visitors frequent to take pictures.

The area, which has started to be referred to as "Salah's rock" among visitors, has also become one of the new stops for plateau tours. Following the increased interest, teams from the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality placed a bench at the spot where the rock is located. There is also a sign in the area that reads "Salah Plateau."

Rahman Haşıl, who works as a civil engineer in Saudi Arabia, stated that he came to the plateau by motorcycle with his brother during his vacation. Haşıl said, "The main reason I came here is that this place became a topic of conversation because of Salah. I wanted to be a part of plateau tourism by sharing a photo."

Yunus Haşıl mentioned that they had visited different plateaus in the surrounding area before but were visiting Kurtdere for the first time, adding, "It has been on the agenda in recent days. We wanted to see it by adding it to our riding route."

Neşe Şimşek, who says she visits the Black Sea plateaus from Germany every year, explained that this time they specifically wanted to see the area where Salah had his photo taken. Şimşek said, "We come to the plateaus every year, but now we came for 'Salah's rock.' We already love the plateaus. People should come not only for Salah but also to see this natural environment."

Şimşek also stated that she found the placement of a bench next to the rock to be positive, noting that the arrangement made for visitors to rest in the area was appropriate.
