A specialist sergeant stationed in the Çaldıran district of Van attempted suicide after shooting his wife and baby. While the 4-month-old baby lost their life, the specialist sergeant was seriously injured and his wife sustained minor injuries.

According to the information obtained, the incident occurred in the evening hours in the Çaldıran district.
It is alleged that the specialist sergeant, who was reportedly suffering from psychological problems, attempted suicide after firing a weapon at his wife and 4-month-old child.
Upon the notification of those who heard the gunshots, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
BABY LOST THEIR LIFE
The teams that entered the house determined that the baby had lost their life, the specialist sergeant was seriously injured, and his wife had sustained minor injuries.
Following the initial intervention by medical teams at the scene, the injured were taken by ambulance first to Çaldıran State Hospital and then transferred to Van.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
