High school girl who stabbed classmate in Üsküdar arrested

A female student who was detained on allegations of stabbing and injuring her classmate in the restroom of a high school in Üsküdar, Istanbul, last Thursday, has been arrested.

According to a statement made by the Istanbul Police Department, it was announced that a student identified as E.Ç. (16) was stabbed in the back by her classmate E.B. (15) while in the restroom.

The statement further noted that E.Ç., who was taken to the hospital after initial intervention by medical teams arriving at the scene, is not in life-threatening condition. It was determined that E.B. had taken the knife from the school's tea room.

E.B., who was apprehended on the day of the attack, was taken into protective custody due to her age. E.B. stated that she committed the act because E.Ç. had lied to her. It was also determined that E.B. had previous treatment records at a mental and neurological diseases hospital on various dates.

Following her apprehension, it was announced that E.B. was referred to judicial authorities on charges of "attempted intentional homicide," where she was arrested and delivered to a Penal Execution Institution.
