Individual with psychological issues opens fire indiscriminately: 1 dead
In the Gördes district of Manisa, a person who allegedly suffered from psychological issues fired a shotgun indiscriminately into the air, resulting in a bystander being struck in the shoulder by pellets; the victim later passed away at the hospital.

The incident occurred last Saturday in the Karayakup neighborhood of Manisa's Gördes district. According to reports, 40-year-old U.Ü., who had been experiencing psychological issues for a long time, began firing a shotgun indiscriminately in the neighborhood during the night.
At that moment, 48-year-old Serkan Mergen, who was on his balcony, was struck by pellets from U.Ü.'s gunfire. Upon notification by those nearby, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. Mergen, who was seriously wounded in the shoulder, was taken to Gölmarmara State Hospital. Despite all medical interventions, Mergen lost his life.
U.Ü., who fled the scene, was apprehended by gendarmerie teams in a wooded area with the weapon used in the incident. Brought before the courthouse, U.Ü. was arrested and sent to the Akhisar T-Type Closed Prison.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
